Project Overview
Reinforcing A Fire-Resistant Church Project
Key aspects of the project included structural construction with fire-resistant materials, exterior concrete and siding work, and integration of specialized finishes such as stained glass and A/V systems.
Construction took nearly 18 months—finished ahead of schedule—allowing the Dedication Ceremony to go off flawlessly and the church to welcome its first Christmas congregation in years.
Project Challenges
Challenges & Innovations
CHALLENGE 01
Schedule Management
The project faced over 45 change orders, requiring careful coordination to meet the client’s fixed opening date. Many trades, including client-hired subcontractors, needed close oversight to maintain progress.
CHALLENGE 02
Site Access
Saturated soil conditions in spring and summer limited equipment mobility. Rig mats were installed to maintain site access, preventing delays to exterior work.
CHALLENGE 03
Subcontractor Sequencing
The siding scope extended beyond the original estimate. Work was temporarily paused to prioritize exterior concrete before winter, then resumed under full scaffolding, ensuring deadlines were met despite subcontractor delays.
CHALLENGE 04
Material Compliance
A void form exceeded compressive strength specifications. Additional manpower was deployed to correct it within three days at net zero cost, as overestimated material pickup offset rework expenses.
